Silk (2015) #1 by Robbie Thompson6/28/2023 Derivative, it may be, but Silk #1 is no less enjoyable for being so.įor the uninitiated, Cindy Moon was bitten by the same radioactive spider that granted her classmate Peter Parker with his powers some 13 Marvel years ago. Fans of old school Spider-Man joints should lap this stuff up as Cindy Moon struggles to balance being a superhero with the pressures of work and maintaining normal relationships in the big city. Silk #1 refreshingly takes us back to the familiar surroundings of New York after the convoluted clusterfuck that was the Spider-Verse saga (in which she played a key role) and is, in many ways, real traditional superhero fare. Just months after being freed from her underground bunker guardhouse and launched head-first into the Marvel Universe, Silk debuts in her own series, and judging by this premiere issue, plenty of time is going to be spent fleshing out the newest spider’s personality, motivations and back story. Silk Vol 1, Issue 1 // Released February 2015
